Wild Parrots Love Sunflower Seed

I’ve had great luck with just plain sunflower seeds, after spending a boatload of money on fancy parrot food. I have seen up to as many as 6 parrots on this tiny circular feeder – sadly, I muffed the shot!

    Hi 🙂

I just wanted to comment that sunflower seeds are very high in fat and can cause problems in birds. These problems include poor feather production, feather destructive behavior and fatty liver disease (which is fatal without treatment). A better seed and usually just as enjoyed, would either be safflower or pumpkin. They don’t have quite the fat content as sunflower seeds.

Thank you. Good luck with your parrot watching!
