Great picture! Thanks for sharing. They’re just beautiful. Hard for them, the cold. Keep the feeders full!

The wild parrots who live in nearby Greenwood Cemetery (in Brooklyn) sometimes like to eat the fruit in a decorative pear tree outside my apartment. I’ve been trying to track down the exact type of decorative pear and think it’s a Bradford Pear. Haven’t seen the parrots yet this year.

I love wild parrots. A huge flock lives in Pasadena/Altadena. When I lived there, I used to run outside to watch them every evening. They were on their way home from foraging in the San Gabriel Mountains, en route to their two main roosts, one in Altadena & the other in Pasadena. The flock was about 60 -100 birds. Each bird was about 12-16″ high–green with red bars on its shoulders. The Brooklyn parrots I have seen are much smaller–about eight inches tall.
